Privacy notice

Last updated: 28 August 2026

Carl Taylor operates cjtaylor.com, including its private eBay selling workspace. This notice explains what personal information the site uses, why it is used and the choices available to you.

Who is responsible and how to make contact

Carl Taylor is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to cjtaylor@cjtaylor.com.

Information the site uses

  • Information you submit through the contact form, such as your name, email address, message and any optional social-media details.
  • Technical information needed to operate and protect the site, such as IP address, request time, requested page, browser details, security events and session information.
  • For the private selling workspace, the authorised operator's email address, passkey public credential information and security audit events. A passkey does not give this site your biometric information.
  • Photographs, notes and listing drafts uploaded by the authorised operator.
  • Information made available through the eBay APIs for the connected seller account, including the account identifier, seller policies, inventory, listings and OAuth authorisation information.
  • For an eBay marketplace-account-deletion notification, the notification identifier, event date and a one-way hash of the eBay user identifier. The raw notification body and raw user identifier are not retained.

The application does not ask for or store an eBay password. Payment-card details are handled by eBay and are not stored by this site.

Why the information is used

  • To respond when somebody contacts the site.
  • To operate, secure and troubleshoot the website and private selling workspace.
  • To connect the authorised seller's eBay account and prepare, review, publish and manage that seller's listings.
  • To comply with eBay account-deletion notifications and applicable legal or regulatory obligations.
  • To understand aggregate site usage and improve the site.

The relevant legal bases are taking steps at a person's request, performing a contract where applicable, complying with legal obligations, and legitimate interests in operating and securing the site and managing the authorised seller's eBay activity. Where consent is required, it will be requested separately and may be withdrawn.

AI-assisted listing drafts

When the authorised operator requests photograph analysis, product photographs and the accompanying listing note are sent to OpenAI to suggest a draft title, description and follow-up questions. eBay passwords, OAuth tokens and buyer details are not sent for this analysis. Suggestions are reviewed by a person before a listing is published and are not used to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about another person.

Who information is shared with

Information is shared only as needed with service providers that operate the site and selling workflow, including hosting and security providers, eBay, OpenAI for requested listing analysis, email delivery services, Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form, and the Matomo and Mautic services currently used for site measurement. These providers process information under their own terms or appropriate service arrangements.

Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where data-protection law applies, appropriate transfer arrangements are used. Personal information is not sold.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses necessary session and security storage for sign-in and passkeys. Matomo and Mautic may use cookies or similar identifiers for site measurement. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although blocking necessary storage may prevent the private workspace from working.

How long information is kept

Information is kept only while it is needed for the purpose described above, to protect the service, or to meet legal and eBay programme requirements. OAuth tokens are retained until they expire, are revoked or the account is disconnected. Listing drafts and photographs are retained while they are being managed and are removed when no longer needed. Contact records, operational logs and audit records are periodically reviewed and deleted or anonymised when they are no longer required.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to particular uses. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. Send requests to cjtaylor@cjtaylor.com.

If a concern is not resolved, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Other services

Use of eBay remains subject to the eBay User Privacy Notice. OpenAI describes its handling of personal data in its Privacy Policy. This site is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of unrelated websites it links to.

Changes to this notice

This notice will be updated before materially different uses of personal information are introduced. The date at the top identifies the current version.
